DMM4 muting controller for safety barriers from SICK


F.Fonseca presents the DMM4 muting controller for safety barriers from SICK.
The DMM4 from SICK is an advanced muting controller developed for automated material transport applications that require safety and efficiency. In conjunction with Tec safety curtain barriers and Tem multi-beam safety barriers, the DMM4 enables the implementation of effective muting applications for the safe differentiation between people and materials.
With the support of the intuitive Safety Designer software, it is possible to individually configure muting parameters and activate intelligent functions, such as smart restart interlock, adjusting the system to the specific needs of the application. The software also allows you to define different operating modes, such as partial muting.
The direct connection of muting sensors, control switches, and safety devices to the DMM4 reduces wiring effort and shortens commissioning time. This facilitates continuous and efficient material flows while ensuring the protection of people.
The main features of the DMM4 module include flexible and configurable 2/4-signal muting via Safety Designer, ten connections for muting sensors, safety control devices, and up to three safety sensors, various operating modes, smart restart interlock, adjustable transmission power and reading range, as well as reduced resolution and configurable object size.
There are several advantages: increased machine availability thanks to flexible configuration of muting parameters according to the application; simplified connection that reduces installation effort and facilitates maintenance of the safety solution; the ability to quickly switch between operating modes even while the machine is running; increased process efficiency thanks to smart restart interlock, which adapts the light curtain to the size of the object; space savings in the factory, as safety devices can be installed close together without interference; and high availability, as small objects such as thin metal sheets do not cause unplanned stoppages.
