The biggest Christmas tree in the world is in Italy and has an area of 130.000 m2, the equivalent to 15 football fields, can you imagine?
Since 1981, on the 7th of December, this Christmas tree is put up by a group of volunteers, in a tradition that precedes Our Lady of Immaculate Conception. It has been recognized since 1991 as the biggest Christmas tree in the world by the Guinness Book of Records, it’s located in the town of Gubbio, just at the feet of Mount Ingino, in the center of Italy and can be seen from multiple places in the city.

The whole tree is spread over an area of 130.000 m², the equivalent to 15 football fields. With 750 meters in height and 350 meters in width, it takes approximately 4 months to put up.

At the top there’s a shooting star of approximately 1000 meters and the entire tree is powered by low-consumption lights:
  • 250 yellow light points for the star
  • 950 light points
  • 300 green lights to create the shape of the tree
  • 400 colorful lights to make up the decorations
