Ultrasonic level and open channel flow meter NUS-4 - Kobold

The Kobold ultrasonic level meter, model NUS-4, is used for non-contact, continuous level and volume measurement in vessels or for flow measurement in open channels. Level measurement technology based on the non-contacting ultrasonic principle is especially suited for applications where, for any reason, no physical contact can be established to the surface of the material to be measured.
 
Such reasons may include corrosive attack by the process medium against the measuring device material (acids), possible contamination (sewage) or particles of the process medium adhering to the measuring device (adhesive materials). The ultrasonic level metering technology is based on the principle of measuring the time required for the ultrasound pulses to make a round trip from the sensor to the level to be measured and back.

Plastic pipes cannot be located by conventional electromagnetic means because they are not electro conductive. A different principle is applied when locating pipes using the acoustic method: The pipes transmit mechanical vibrations better than the earth that surrounds them. When the pipe is caused to vibrate appropriately, these vibrations spread along the pipe to the earth's surface where they can be picked up by a ground microphone. In the same way as water leaks are detected by acoustic means, the pipeline is located where the intensity is greatest. This method can also be used to locate fiber cement pipes and metal pipes.
 
The COMBIPHON® system consists of the Generator CG50 central control unit and various impulse generators, so it can be used anywhere. Stoppers or tappers are used to generate noises on the line which can then be acoustically detected by the AQUAPHON® or AquaTest T10 systems.

This module can also be used Stand-Alone (without Qbus Controller) as it contains 3 inputs to connect standard pushbuttons (including All Off and Panic button).

The DIM02SA/500U module also has 3 potential-free inputs to connect standard push buttons. Input 1 to 2 control respectively output 1 to 2, input 3 (A) is a scene input which executes an ALL-OFF-scene when pushing for 0,7 seconds (and then releasing the button), or a panic-scene (all outputs on) when pushing the button for 3 seconds. The inputs are set standard in push button mode. When the module is connected to a controller, the input mode of the DIM02SA/500U can be changed to Normal Open, Normal Closed or toggle.
