F.Fonseca presents electromagnetic flowmeter all metal stainless steel MIM from Kobold   The new flowmeter MIM was developed for measuring and monitoring smaller and medium-sized flow of conductive liquids in pipes.   The device operates according to the electromagnetic measurement principle. According to Faraday’s Law of magnetic induction, a voltage is induced in a conductor moving through a magnetic field. The electrically conductive measuring agent acts as the moved conductor. The voltage induced in the measuring agent is proportional to the flow velocity and is therefore a value for the volumetric flow. The flowing media must have a minimum conductivity. The induced voltage is picked up by two sensing electrodes, which are in contact with the measuring agent, and sent to the measuring amplifier. The flow rate will be calculated based on the cross sectional area of the pipe. The measurement is not depending on the process liquid and its material properties such as density, viscosity and temperature. Two given outputs can be set to be switch, analogue or frequency. Also a dosing function can be selected, where output 1 is set as switch NPN/PNP/PP and output 2 is set as a control input.

What you need to know about gas hazards in pulp and paper mills   Most of us have been scribbling on paper longer than we can remember. And throughout every day, we use paper products of all types. Cereal boxes, paper towels, toilet paper, magazines, fast food wrappers, paper bags, printer paper, wallpaper—the list of paper products we encounter in a day is endless!   However, not many of us ever stop to think about the process that turns trees into those paper products we count on. And we certainly don’t stop to think about the dangers that are part of the process for making those products.   The reality is that the same paper mills that create harmless household products have some serious hazards in the production process. Some of those gas hazards include:   Hydrogen sulfide (H2S) Carbon monoxide (CO) Chlorine (Cl2) Chlorine dioxide (ClO2) Sulfur dioxide (SO2)   The paper-making process starts when the wood is stripped and ground into chips. Those wood chips are then broken down with steam, pressure, and chemicals in digester units. As the wood is broken down, the pulp is separated out—this is where you could be exposed to hydrogen sulfide gas.   Once the pulp has been separated out, it may go through several bleaching processes where chlorine and chlorine dioxide transform the original brown slurry into the bright white shade that we often think of when we envision paper. To remove excess chlorine from the bleaching process, sulfur dioxide is used to wash the pulp and help maintain the color in the paper after it is bleached.   Hydrogen sulfide, sulfur dioxide, chlorine, and chlorine dioxide can all be extremely dangerous, even in relatively low concentrations. Like many other industrial processes, paper making also requires boilers that power the operation—and any time there is combustion, you could be exposed to carbon monoxide gas.   The Best Gas Monitoring Programs for Pulp and Paper Mills So how we can make paper manufacturing safer? Anwen, one of the koalas that F.Fonseca adopted, is completely recovered and back in its natural habitat!

It was in September the fires that destroyed Australia's natural habitat for huge animals started. F.Fonseca immediately decided to help Koala Conservation Australia Inc. koala rescue hospital by adopting two, Anwen and Paul. Look here. Today, in times of a pandemic where we are bombarded with less good news, we received an email that cheered us immensely and made us sure that we will always be associated with good causes, which will effectively make a difference even on the other side of the world.   Dear Carlos Santos,   We are sending you this email because you very kindly adopted Anwen who was the first female koala brought into the Koala Hospital as a result of the devastating bushfires which ravaged the Mid North Coast of New South Wales and many other parts of Australia at the end of last year.  Anwen is about 4-5 years old, and had badly burnt hands, feet, arms and fur.  For months she sat quietly in a basket in an intensive care unit. When it was decided her wounds had healed enough to no longer need dressing she was moved to an external, rehabilitation yard. Although quiet, she was active, cheeky and enjoyed moving around her enclosure and eating leaf. The current times are very challenging for everyone and we wanted to bring you a good news story to hopefully lift your spirits!   Anwen was ready to go home and was released back to her home range last Friday, 3rd April, 2020. We would like to thank you for the wonderful support you gave to Anwen through our Adopt a Wild Koala Programme. Without your support Anwen may not have received the excellent care she was given which allowed her to heal and flourish. Our aim is to rescue, rehabilitate and release koalas back to their home range where possible. While it was very sad to see Anwen go we know that this is the very best outcome. We only have 18 koalas on the Adopt a Wild Koala programme but in normal circumstances we treat more than 300 koalas a year.  We are hoping that you will leave your adoption in place until it is due for renewal to allow us to continue to care for the other koalas currently at the Port Macquarie Koala Hospital. F.Fonseca presents datalogger industrial multichannel FieldLogger from Novus   FieldLogger is a module for reading and recording analog, digital and other variables, with great speed and resolution. It is a high performance and connectivity device, but easy to operate and configure. It allows various types of visualization, registration and information processing. It can also be used as an analog + digital I/O expansion for PLC's in monitoring and control applications.   The FieldLogger has 8 software configurable analog inputs for voltage, current, thermocouple, Pt100 and Pt1000 signals. It has 2 relay outputs and 8 digital ports individually configurable as input or output. It has up to 128 channels for calculating quantities from the measured information. The 32 alarm events allow the triggering of outputs, sending emails or SNMP traps. The RS485 interface works with Modbus RTU protocol and can be configured as a master or slave, which allows the acquisition of up to 64 external channels for registration. The Ethernet interface allows access to the equipment by browser (HTTP), FTP (client or server), SNMP and Modbus TCP. One of the USB ports allows you to connect to a computer for configuration, monitoring or data collection. The other makes it possible to connect a Pen Drive for data collection. Its 512k memory can be expanded by SD card. For viewing or local configuration, the exclusive HMI (optional) with color display can be used, which can be attached or installed remotely. The user-friendly configuration software allows you to change the settings, whether via Ethernet, USB or RS485, in addition to online diagnostics, collection of records and export to different formats.

F.Fonseca contingency plan | COVID-19

F. Fonseca informs that as of Monday, March 16, it will further reinforce its contingency plan to prevent the spread of the new corona virus (COVID-19).   This reinforcement will imply: 1. The adoption of teleworking by most employees. The employees who will be essential to the normal functioning of the activity will remain in the company; 2. Until the end of the alert state decreed by the Portuguese government (April 9), all meetings at the company with external persons as well as commercial and / or technical visits will be canceled, except in very exceptional situations, duly justified and with the safeguarding of all necessary protective measures. Alternatively, remote communication tools will be adopted (email, telephone, Skype, WhatsApp, among others); 3. All face-to-face service at the company's facilities, including parcel delivery, will be suspended during this period; 4. The logistical services will be in operation, receiving goods and dispatching orders, all of which will be sent by carrier.   These are preventive measures that aim to safeguard the health and safety of everyone at F.Fonseca and above all, everyone in our community. On our part, we will make every effort to keep all our services active, regretting right now any delay that may arise from this absolutely extraordinary situation. F.Fonseca reminds and appeals to all its customers to follow the recommendations of the DGS. We have no doubt that we will all be able to overcome this serious public health crisis that we are currently experiencing!

1001 trees planted in Australia! Thank you!

With the support of all, F.Fonseca managed to plant 1001 trees in Australia!   Since January 9, 2020, F.Fonseca has dedicated itself to bringing together its customers, employees, suppliers and the general population, around the solidarity cause Let’s help Australia? With the objective of raising funds for the planting of trees in that country which, unfortunately, suffered a heartbreaking tragedy.   The campaign was developed through PPL, a crowdfunding platform, dedicated to supporting fundraising. This initiative, which was published in the Diário de Aveiro newspaper, on the various social networks and on the company's website, appealed to everyone to join and had an incentive of € 1 = 1 tree, highlighting the fact that “together we are stronger” and that each € makes a difference!   The organization chosen for the execution of this action was OneTreePlanted, focused on global reforestation, non-profit. With the support of everyone who believed in this cause, it will be possible to donate the amount raised until the end of the campaign that ended, on February 17th, with a total of 1001€. This means that F.Fonseca was able to raise enough funds to plant 1001 trees, help with reforestation, habitat restructuring and increased food available for animals in Australia!   It was not an easy task. The start of the campaign was shaky and uncertain, due to the slowness with which the contributions were arriving. However, there was great support, a great lesson in team spirit, citizenship and solidarity, which filled the hearts of all those involved! “There are gestures that make us believe that we are contributing to a better world and, above all, cultivating citizenship, whether here or thousands of kilometers away.” This initiative joins so many others already organized by this company, with great social and environmental awareness, always with a view to a better world!   F.Fonseca was only the vehicle that brought this campaign to a successful conclusion, but the real merit is of those who gave their contribution and committed themselves to helping to give hope back to Australia.   When we believe in a cause and give everything for it, success is guaranteed!
